San Juan

San Juan is a card game of building. It is based on Puerto Rico, and serves as a good preparation for the complex rules of Puerto Rico. Players choose roles in order to acquire cards and use them as both options to build and currency to build them. Roles have both an action and a privilege. When a player chooses a role, everyone takes the action, with just the player who chose the role getting the privilege. There are two kinds of cards, production buildings, and violet buildings. All building give victory points, and are the only way to score victory points. Production buildings, when built, allow the player who owns them to get goods on the producer phase. Violet buildings, when built, allow the player to get some bonus in one of the aspects of the game. The game ends on the role when the twelfth building is built, and the player with the most victory points wins.
